| New
Vision Youth & Family Services Inc.
was founded in August 1998 as a
not-for-profit 501(c) 3 corporation in Missouri. The goal and mission
of New
Vision Youth & Family Services Inc.
is to work with families and
individuals to improve their level of functioning.
In 2001 the decision was
made to begin using the more descriptive and accurrate name: New
Vision Counseling.
New
Vision Counseling provides services
and continues to develop programs with meaningful purpose and strong
integrity.
New
Vision Counseling employees
are well trained, experienced, and share in the philosophy of dedication
in working with children, families, and other agencies.
New
Vision Counseling assumes
that families and children do the best they know how. Sometimes
the best they know how may not meet societal standards or legal
expectations for the welfare of a family. Generally there
one of three reasons why the best they know how provides unacceptable
levels of functioning:
- They lack education on
what to do,
- They need to learn and
practice new skills to do better, or
- There may be a pathological
problem interfering with thoughts and behaviors.
New
Vision Counseling believes
that people want to do better and through training, education, and/or
other specialized treatment interventions individuals and families
can elevate their level of functioning to be successful and more
self sufficient.
Fear, anxiety, or other past experiences get
in the way, or block people and families from improving. By
helping a person change the way they believe about their feelings
or past experiences, our interventions can help them to improve
their lives or raise their level of functioning.
New
Vision Counseling believes that clients should have input
into the goals, interventions, activities, and processes that occur
when plans are designed, treatment is implemented, or changes occur.
Usually clients will direct their own success.
We believe that any interventions should be
realistic, attainable, and mutually agreed upon by clients and persons
delivering services. The strategies and interventions should
be the least restrictive and least intrusive and most respectful
as possible. Things should be as done simply as possible for
the welfare and success of the clients.
All services and interventions should be provided
in the family home or in the community whenever possible.
Only high quality and goal directed interventions will be planned
or implemented.
New
Vision Counseling will only provide services for which
staff are qualified and trained. If services are requested
which are beyond the pervue of New
Vision Counseling's expertise, alternative resources
will be sought and recommended. New
Vision Counseling will either provide or assist in locating
the highest quality services available.
As part of New
Vision Counseling's continued commitment to provide and
develop quality service, we are a training site for counseling,
social work and other university departments. We also provide supervision
for Social Work and Professional Counseling candidates working toward
Professional Licensure in Missouri.
