New
Vision Accomplishments
We have developed mental health programs
and implemented strategies for youth and families to deal with these
pressing issues. In the past two (2) years;
- Of the 165 youth that have participated
in the stealing diversion program, only 7 have been rearrested,
- New Vision programming has helped
at least twenty five (25) youth to graduate with high school from
the alternative school,
- Approximately Fifty (50) youth have
successfully completed the life skills curriculum as a part of
the requirements for probation through the juvenile court,
- Twenty five (25) youth in the after
school tutoring program for the emotionally disturbed or academically
challenged youth have improved their academic standing,
- New Vision offers classroom space
to surrounding schools when needed.
About
This Tax Credit Project
New Vision Youth & Family Services
provides to at-risk youth in the Cape Girardeau and Southeast Missouri
area. These services include: educational tutoring and mentoring
services for youth programs, summer programs, individual and group
therapy services designed to prevent criminal behavior and teenage
pregnancy, assault diversion programs, stealing diversion program,
life skills classes, and independent living classes. The Division
of Youth Services, division of Family Services, Public Schools,
and Juvenile Courts refer youth targeted by New Vision programs.
New Vision offers these youth an opportunity to turn their lives
around.

through Youth Opportunities Program contract include:
Verification
of Success
This project will utilize
attendance records at school, tutoring sessions, alternative school,
report cards, teacher evaluations, self and parent reports, and
records from the Juvenile Office to determine success of the participants
in the programs.
How
Will My Dollars Be Spent?
All funds generated through
the Youth Opportunities Tax Credits will be used to expand current
programs offered, increase the numbers of youth and families served
by the numbers of youth and families served by the additional programs,
and for the development of new mental health programs for youth
and families in the New Vision service area. New Vision has a capital
fund raising campaign of $457,500. The tax credits to be sold is
$225,750 to fund this campaign.

The beauty of this program
is that you must pay Missouri taxes anyway. This program allows
you to direct where your tax dollars are spent, in the local community.
Your tax dollars can either go to some other part of the state or
you can direct those tax dollars, through tax credits, to expand
mental health services and programs for youth and families in this
area.
